The Wit is a fabulous addition to our City and brings people from all walks of life and all corners of the City and the globe together, and proves that people want a place to congregate that is sexy, energizing, inspiring and looks and feels and works right. As you explore all parts of this enterprise (and it is clearly that), you quickly discover that functionality was never compromised in the design, practicality was never sacrificed in any of its hotel rooms or venues and a good corporate eco- and social-consciousness guided so many decisions, always with a mind on a budget but with a careful sensitivity to creating long-term sustaining returns and to being a responsible and thoughtful global citizen. Finally a hotel with multi venues that gets it, is singularly committed to optimizing the guest experience and not just with maximized and newly created technology (which it is packed with and really needs to be experienced to be appreciated) but with its people who exude a love for what they do and are palpably proud to be a part of something so new and innovative and positive. Hopefully the Wit, and what it embodies and represents, will become the new standard in hospitality. It clearly has revived a long dormant area south of the River into the sweet spot and proved that with the right formula and combination of people, talent and ingredients, even in the toughest economies and in the toughest of industries, success can be achieved with dedication, grit, vision and true innovation.

Anyone who has visited theWit can see Jackie's architectural genius brought to life. This hotel has transformed the Chicago entertaining scene for fun-loving types looking for a little edge to their evening out, exceptional views, fine food and an aesthetically interesting interior. Thank you to all those involved for making this hotel such a fabulous place to entertain clients and friends alike.

the Wit is a delight.
you feel special just being in the lobby.
it's more than a hotel, it's a destination; a node; a landmark—"I'll meet you at the Wit."
Leslie MinkusAugust 20th, 2009
Great place to meet, see or network with almost everyone you know in Chicago. The ROOF is the place to be to meet celebs or just feel like a celeb and enjoy the ambiance of this rooftop delight. Great rooms, great price and great food. Don't miss this one!
Phyllis MinkusAugust 20th, 2009
Our recent visits to entertain guests at theWit have been full of fun experiences that have turned us into "Roof groupies". The Roof restaurant on the 27th floor is a venue that provides awesome views of the Chicago scene, amazingly creative menu items, a visual feast of dramatic interior design work and a warm, friendly atmosphere created by a young energetic staff, eager to provide excellent service and generate camaraderie among their patrons. We have enjoyed dinner at both Cibbo Matto and State and Lake Restaurants, which offer gourmet dinner choices with deserts that are to die for! The pastry chef for all the restaurants does an outstanding job of creating a perfect ending to every meal. Overall theWit is truly a refreshing experience in the Chicago entertainment scene that has provided a new fresh, witty environment in which to relax...leaving you looking forward to your next visit!

September 2009 Chicago Magazine nailed it -- " ... one sexy hotel [that] has single-handedly revived the Loop".
Lucas HadleyAugust 21st, 2009
Talk about a symbol of the evolution of theLoop! A new standard of excellence for Chicago hotels and the hospitality industry in general. All you need to do is spin through the front door to know you're in for something special! Magnificent is all I can say. A big "thank you" to the creator of theWit. For someone who lives around the corner it feels like the new, cool neighbor you've been waiting for has just moved onto the block! Lovin' every minute of it!

This place is really terrific. If you're in the lobby around the top of the hour listen for these things they call "wit bits"(?).....hilarious.
Bo BokxAugust 21st, 2009
I'm so happy this place has hit the scene. Fantastic food, great nightlife and swanky designs. This past Wednesday they were offering guests to see a complimentary viewing of Kill Bill in their movie theatre. Yes I said movie theatre! Who was in the hotel that night? Quentin Tarrantino himself! Where the heck does that happen?
BA CarrierAugust 21st, 2009

Staying at The Wit is a fabulous experience from the
moment you walk through the door. The outdoor
doormen are friendly and courteous and once inside
you are greeted by hospitable staff. The attention to
detail in the lobby and throughout the hotel is stunning. The rooms are clean and fun to be in. The restaurants are excellent. Of course, the 'topping on the cake' is - The Roof. Spectacular views, high energy surroundings and customers make it a great place to start your visit in
Chicago. Love how the hotel is 'green' friendly and its
amazing how you do not hear the 'el. I hope to return
many times to this establishment as it is one of the best locations in the city.

The Wit hotel is a beautiful addition to Chicago. It is incredibly chic and has a lot of great amenities to offer such as ROOF, a great bar and restaurant. On a beautiful Chicago night there is nothing better than sitting on the patio and looking at the lights of the city. The design of the building is stunning. The interior design is highlighted by gorgeous lighting design. The fixture choices are incredible. It is hard to miss the massive winged chandeliers in the lobby. They are breathtaking!

TheWit is truely a unique experience which begins the moment you arrive.A chartruse lighten bolt runs up lenght of the 27 story buliding exterior, creating a pulsating energy making it almost impossible not to get excited by what you might find once inside .
Once inside there are so many fun and creative suprises that make you smile.Their tag line 'more experince then hotel' is right on target.
The Wit has designed the building 'around' the chicago's landscape.
Breathtaking views of the chicago river ,chicago skyline and Milemuim Park are just a few of the spectacular landscapes you will experience. The most incrediable experience is being able to feel part of chicago without ever having to leave the property..Most impressive is the way the state street L train station has been incorporated into the second story meeting space. No other place in the city of chicago provides a more dynamic meeting environrment.
Did i mention the Roof???
You must Experience The Wit!

Having stayed at the hotel, eaten in its restuarants, relaxed in the spa and played on the roof, all I can say is this place is the best, from the Doorman, James, to the manager, everyone tries their hardest to please and does their best all the time. Views, tastes, design, ambiance, this place has it all, right in the middle of the city. It rocks. Great to stay after the theatre for a romantic evening. It gets 100% of my vote. Go Wit!

It can be said that delivering a great hotel experience requires more than a little 'theater', and makes every guest feel like a star. If that is the case, TheWit is the hospitality stage that Chicago has needed for years.
From the daring, thrilling architecture to the engaging, dazzling, lavish interiors and lighting and the world class staff, Scott Greenberg is to be applauded for having the strength of vision and commitment to bring this one of a kind property to life.
Go see The Wit, go dine at The Wit, go stay at The Wit. You won't regret it.

Peggy MikrosSeptember 3rd, 2009
I am the hospitality manager for a large global law firm. The Wit recently hosted a meeting of a group of our most senior firm leaders from around the world. This group normally likes the cocktail/appetizer portion of the event to be very brief. For this event the entire group seemed so relaxed and were clearly really enjoying the reception in the "library" (a very cool space). So much so that after 25 minutes I inquired about whether they wanted to stick with the plan of ending after 30 minutes or extend it. They continued the reception for another 10 – 15 minutes. The appetizers from Cibo Matto were delicious and very creatively prepared and presented.
They then proceeded to the Wilde III room for the seated dinner. The room, with two walls of glass and a great view of Marina Towers, had been transformed by beautiful furniture, linens, candles and floral to have a warm intimate feel. The unique salad was pre-plated and guests then chose from 3 entrees listed on a beautiful menu card.
The entrees were all served promptly and were beautifully plated. Many guests commented that their entrees were delicious. A superb and uniquely presented dessert trio followed.
During the dessert course, a senior firm partner went to Roof and was so impressed that he came back and encouraged everyone to go up to Roof, saying things like “Come on, come with me upstairs, you’ve GOTTA see this!” The hotel arranged for two dedicated elevators to quickly move everyone up to Roof. They had reserved a very cool private open air space for us with a great view of the city. The weather, despite predications to the contrary, was great. They enjoyed themselves so much that they lingered for hours (a first for this group).
I had many compliments that evening indicating that the service throughout the event was exceptional. Several partners congratulated us on having hosted "the best event ever". I’m confident that this is the beginning of a long mutually beneficial professional relationship.
The Wit truly exceeded my expectations.
Beth NgoSeptember 3rd, 2009
Clever! Beautiful addition to a beautiful city. Great mix of friendly staff, chic architecture, cutting-edge technology, innovative restaurants - great fun day & night.
Michele McPhail StowersSeptember 4th, 2009
I was married at The Wit hotel on 8/22/09, ceremony in the ballroom and reception on the spectacular roof! In my search for the perfect spot, I was SURE I didn't want it to be a hotel for so many reasons (cost, horribly decorated ballrooms with no view, dry chicken on a plate with veggies, no personal attention, etc.). And THEN, I found The Wit Hotel, the moment I walked out on the Roof, I knew it was "the place,” and more importantly, I met Laura Ekker. The first of many people at The Wit that helped make our entire weekend with family and friends so amazing.
Cut to the wedding weekend...every single guest who stayed at the hotel and so many of those who only attended the wedding flooded me with positive comments about the experience - not only State & Lake (where many people, including myself, went for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner during their stay), the ceremony space (with its amazing view), the design and view of ROOF, the cocktails, the food, the rooms -- but most amazingly, the service. All of our blocked rooms were ready by 10AM on Friday (and I got a call letting me know!). Whenever a guest would check in, every single person from valet to the bellmen to the registration staff went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating – even before they knew they were there for the wedding, but especially after! I'm still hearing about it today. And I'm not just talking about the special little things they did for me like an amazing suite, a spa bath treatment upon check in, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne waiting for us in our room after the wedding. I'm talking about treating our parents like royalty, lugging around coolers for our rehearsal dinner (which was not at the hotel), knowing people by name, making room for 20 of us at State & Lake on Friday night with no notice, the list goes on and that doesn't even touch the service at the wedding itself!
I imagine most brides are inundated with praise about how beautiful she looks - and hey, that's great. But I can't tell you how ecstatic I was to see everyone's dropped jaws. Almost every comment I received (or overheard) that day, and since then, was about the whole EXPERIENCE being absolutely mind-blowingly awesome. If I had to do it all over again, I still wouldn't want to get married at some hotel. But I’d get married at The Wit Hotel anytime.

as soon as you enter the wit's stunning lobby, you are greeted by an exceptional group of helpful and knowledgeable staff that cannot do enough for you. after a seamless check-in, you are whisked up (in a gorgeous elevator that is a piece of art itself) to your floor where you hear the soothing sounds of birds softly chirping in the corridor. upon entering your suite, you immediately see the detail , finish elegance and most important, thoughtfulness that went into designing the room. with super comfortable bed, crisp plasma tv, high end bathroom, and warm chocolate chip cookies from the front desk, you know you are in a very special place indeed. then we shot up to the roof bar where the decor was once again knockout, the people were gorgeous and the views were magnificent. kudos to the wit for bringing to chicago a special treat to savor.

I enjoyed the article and agree with the comments - however, there was a mistake in the article. I review "green properties" for technical usage aspects to be used in articles. The HVAC energy-saving products used in theWit Hotel is not Seimens.
It is EAI products. Thermostats and room sensors for guest comfort are wirelessly installed (genious). EAI (Which stands for Energy Authority International) - http://www.energyauth.com - was in another press release I read that was directly from theWit.
More hotels should immediately begin using wireless, ZigBee - based technology since the installation is wireless and only involves mounting the wireless components - and then the facility saves 30-40% in energy consumption after a minimal 20-30 minute installation? Another way that is green is the fact that the hotel is minimizing the use of wiring throughout the facility. All hotels should follow theWit's lead in utilizing EMS systems that are wireless so that the components can be installed right away. There shouldn't be any delay in large buildings such as this to install wireless energy devices since it is ultra-fast to install. If every major building in Chicago did that and lowered the energy consumption by 30-40% at the same time, it is understandable what a tremendous contribution to our environment would be. The entire state of New York, California and Florida following this type of application would change the landscape of the entire country's energy consumption!
I know, everyone focuses on how clever and artistic a hotel is and theWit certainly has climbed to the top of that ladder. It's pretty amazing what theWit has done that you can't "see", but you still get the benefits from in temperature control and comfort, and saving energy on your behalf - and you don't even have to lift a finger.
